    Newbie with Rev limiter ?

    Hi,

i have a 1.4 TFSI, and i was messing about with it when it was at a standstill, and noticed that it wouldn't rev all the way to the red line only got to 4000 rpm.

is this normal? or do i have a problem?

    thanks

I think in some cars it's normal. Probably built in protection.

Do yuo have DSG as I'm sure the Cupra 1.4TSi I drove did the same.

My A3 does this. It's to stop over revving when in neutral, plus you drive an Audi not a B type Corsa... Ha.

DSG is the paddles behind steering wheel and 'auto style' gear stick.

Supposedly Tiguan does it too, and it only does it at standstill so you're safe!

Correct, my old TSI 170 GT Sport used to do this, it's called a soft limiter according to VW, its so you can't damage the engine.

On slightly older cars like mine, turned the ESP off allows you to fully rev the engine.
