Hi guys n gals

does any one know what the above could be?

When i bring out the clutch on my A3 2.0l tdi quattro s line (2005) it makes a very slight grinding noise? this only happens on a ratio of 2/10 so its not that bad but im worried it could get worse and i am just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem and what it could be?

I have just had a major service from Audi and they couldn't find anything wrong with it? also a major service at 76000 miles - surely more than an oil change and inspection should be done for £269?

Any help on the clutch problem and thoughts on the service are greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Chris ;)

That's the cost of going to a main dealer, a decent independent garage will do that for around £120.

Could be the auxillary belt tensioner making noise under load or maybe the fly wheel, don't panic yet, best thing to do is find yourself a good Audi specialist and go from there.

Generally with Audi main dealers, no fault code found on the ECU means no problems with the car.

Main dealers don't have mechanics now, they have 'Technicians', they are trained to do the basics to cars and read errors from a fault reader and then throw parts at the car because 9/10 out of ten its warranty work and dealers love warranty work, so they pick out the likely parts which maybe causing the problems and replace them. If they do this with a customer such as yourself who is outside of the warranty period it will cost you thousands.

oh blimey - thank your very much for your help AidenUK - i must say i have had nothing but problems with Maidstone Audi. they seriously have stressed me out way too much!

i really appreciate your feedback. i just don't know any other good Audi dealers round my area that can be trusted.

i just hope this isnt something huge that needs to be done

That's your problem ----> Audi dealers, now your car is out of warranty, try to find a good independent mechanic, ask friends and family who they send there cars to. Don't both with main dealer Audi any more as you will spend a fortune.

so all in all do you think the grinding noise could be the flywheel?

has anyone else got an more information on this? or has had this problem before?

Does the car shudder on idle and if it does, does it go away when you push the clutch flat to the floor or is it still there?
