Has anybody managed to get a main dealer to price match on a cambelt change???

Audi's main website gives a price of £399 for a cambelt change ----> LINK

...but stoke and stafford Audi are offering £269/£275 on their website. ----> LINK & LINK

I tried once over the phone to get my local dealer to price match but they gave all sorts of reasons/rubbish why they don't think they can match it. I never really got a definite answer because the woman in service who I spoke to would've been more suited to selling Calvin Klein belts than cambelts.

So, what do you reckon?? Anybody else tried to get their local dealers to price match on a cambelt (or anything else) that is available at a significantly lower price elsewhere???

In my experience, although the Surrey/South London dealers will do the £399 offer if you ask them, they don't want to do it even at that price, and they will point out that it is not for the "full cambelt service kit". They want £600 plus to do the job round here and asking about pricematching will get you a 10% discount. I couldn't find any audi garage in this neck of the woods to do a cambelt/aux/water pump as recommended for less than the £399 price, even independent VW specialists round here ask more than £400. I used 4 Rings Ltd earlier this year and I couldn't recommend them highly enough, they are excellent and all ex VAG techs & use VAG parts only. And they come to you if needed, which is a bonus.
If you really want the VAG stamp, you could book it into the Volkswagen branch as their value servicing prices for a cam belt change are cheaper, for sometimes the same workshop, go figure?

My local audi dealer wants £500 to do the cambelt/tensioners and waterpump.

The "full cambelt service kit"?? What does that include in addition to the cambelt/tensioners and waterpump??

Also, is the aux belt change really necessary??
