Hello chaps,

Today my Emission Control System light came on so I done a self scan with a cheap ebay reader and it came up with the following codes :
17439
16395
17808

One of them points to an EGR valve???? Is it expensive to replace ???

It might also be a bit of info that the car doesn't start on first turn of the key, it sort of make a single judder amd then all the lights go off and nothing happens. Any help would be really appreciated because I am supposed to be taking the car for a 2500 mile trip...

So on the ross tech site it says :

17439/P1031/004145 - Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (N136): Setpoint Not Reached

Possible Causes
Intake Manifold Flap blocked/tight
Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (N136) faulty
Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Position Sensor (G336) faulty
Possible Solutions
Check Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (N136)
Check Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Position Sensor (G336)
Check Intake Manifold Flap

Where on earth do I find that???

For the next one :

16395/P0011/000017 - Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake): ****** Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced)

Possible Symptoms
Power Loss
Possible Causes
Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 (N205) faulty
Fuel Pump Relay (J17) faulty
Mechanical Timing not correct, including Chain and/or Belt timing.
Possible Solutions
Check Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 (N205)
Check Fuel Pump Relay (J17)
Check Mechanical Timing
Special Notes
When found in Engine: 4.0l W8
Check TPL 2010059(RoW)
Check/Replace Oil Sieve in Timing Case (Camshaft Adjuster)

What's this then???

Can't find anything on 17808...

Sorry for the noob questions but I'm not that mechanically minded :/

What car is this on?

The intake manifold flap is a *****!!! to do!! The part is around £150 I think and would be a 4-5 hour job to replace. In the S3, it is located directly below the intake manifold/fuel pump and behind the diverter valve.

Don't know anything about the second one, first I have ever heard of it.

Third one I found this:

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/new-a3...is/63821-egr-valve-problem-help-required.html

So I followed the link posted above and checked the EGR valve, opened it up and all the cogs are fine, closed it back up and tried to start the engine, it made the single judder and wouldn't turn on, all lights went dead and the clocks reset themselves like if the battery got disconnected, the ECS light is gone but now the ESP light is on...help

Also my engine sounds a bit funny to me, does this sound alright ???
