Current MPG display at Idle

I'm pretty sure this should read "----" when off throttle/at idle, mine seems to display an MPG figure on idle.

Has anyone had this before, I'm guessing a sensor is not working somewhere.

Car is a 2.0 TDI.

No not mapped.

My girlfriends Mk5 Golf TDI doesn't display anything at idle.

I thought it often showed whatever reading when the car was last moving?

It only shows ----when you are off throttle rolling,,,if it shows--- when on idle its idling and not using any fuel at all. when stopped it shows whatever you were using at the time you stopped unless you are on ave setting then it drops on idle.
