Passenger Side Grill Opening - S3

Guys,

If you look closely to your S3, you will notice behind the fog grills, the drivers side is blanked and the passenger side is open.

I have been toying with the idea of fabricating an enclosed air feed for my intake.

But, what is the original reason for having this opening?

What does this opening feed?

I will get a picture later of what I mean on the S3 but something like this will be moulded to the plastic and then fed up to the intake:

it's cooling for the gearbox. had to remove mine when i did forge twintercooler.

Scrap that idea then unless I get a twin outlet duct??
