When a dealer connects to the car to check the codes, are the codes timestamped when they occurred? Also, as a matter of procedure, will the dealer record the timestamp when they download the code(s)?

depending on the edc year then yes ambient recordings record time date and frequency also type of fault is static (permanent) or sporadic

Sorry forgot to say 57 plate 8p (S-Line Quattro 170 PS TDi DPF).

I got an MIL very shortly after buying a car from an Audi dealer but didn't take it in straight away as I was waiting for a replacement spare key and wanted it coding at the same time. It may be that the cause of the MIL is not covered under the warranty which if true, occuring less than two weeks after buying the vehicle, would be out of order. Just want some evidence as to how quickly it occured after buying the vehicle.
