OK, so my dealer calls me yesterday to say that my long awaited 2.0TDI Sport, DSG is at "checkpoint 5" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Anyone know what this means? How many checkpoints are there?

Thanks..

Checkpoint 5 means the steering wheel has had the leather stitching finished. The rest of the car will be assembled around it until all 2,377 checkpoints have been completed. My A3 took ****** ages too - worth the wait though!

Checkpoint 5 means the car is in the paintshop, when it reaches checkpoint 8 then the car in finished but still in some third world bodyshop having that really annoying rattle added that will drive you nuts and the dealer won't be able to locate.

Checkpoint 11 is when the car is shipped to the dealer.

Andy's reply is nearer the truth. When my car was on order my dealer told me the following checkpoints:

Checkpoint 1 is start of production

Checkpoint 3 is the body shop

Checkpoint 4 is the paint shop

Checkpoint 5 is the start of final assembly.

Checkpoint 7 is final assembly complete.

Checkpoint 8 is final inspection.

Checkpoint 11 is when the car is being shipped and its also when Audi UK are invoiced for the car.

It's usually about 2 weeks from checkpoint 11 to delivery to your dealer.

A proactive dealer. You must have paid full price and a cruise for the salesman.
