does anybody know what the likely problem would be? the dealer i bought the car from did a recent oil change as well
thanks for any help offered

Have you checked the oil level using the dipstick? If not then do as oil light comes on when level is below minimum. I know that the 2.0tfsi engines drink oil which is normal and may be the same issue with you. If so top it up and should be fine. Dont drive it if oil level is below minimum until you have topped it up as this will damage your engine.

I topped up the car with oil but it hasn't changed anything as the car is still shaking so much is there anything that can be done?

I thought the oil light coming on was pretty catastrophic, how far did you drive with the light on?

What colour was the light, red or yellow? Yellow is the low level warning, I think I read somewhere red is more terminal?

Minstadave i drove for about a mile or so with the oil light on
the oil light is yellow TimG

As said yellow oil light is indicating oil level is incorrect. When you say you topped up the engine oil, I'm assuming you actually dipped it first? If so how far was it down and how many miles has it done since the service?

The yellow light is just a low level light & you should have been fine simply topping up asap. Thats why the light is there to warn people who dont check the dipstick often ehough/ dont know how to etc. Happened on my Polo TDI twice a few years back.

Hi guys i still have this problem i drove the car today and the shaking is a bit less but i thought it was because the engine was cold and the oil light is still on.
Could it be the coil packs? Im going to take it to an audi specialist garage tomorrow but its really frustrating as i just purchased the car less than 2 weeks ago!!
Ok silly mistake from me very silly its the engine light that was on

i took my car to an audi specialist garage today and I rang to ask them if they had checked it and he said the car has 10 FAULTS!!!! WTF he said he's never seen something like this i am really worried. i bought the car 2 weeks ago and it drove absolutely perfectly for 400 miles he's going to let me know tomorrow what the faults are but this is just going to be terrible :(

some faults could have been there for years & never been cleared and others could be caused by one problem - ie coilpacks. It might not be as bad as it sounds.

thanks for replying Khufu i was thinking about that too that it could be one problem but the guy from the garage said he's never seen anything like this before :O that's what got me really worried because this is the last thing i expected to happen. I have got warranty for the car which i purchased from the dealer i bought the car from but it still means paying a large some of money until i get reimbursed which is really annoying. i was thinking maybe they're trying to milk money from me as i'm going through warranty and they might think whats the harm he'll get his money back anyways but the audi specialist garage dealing with the car seem to have a good reputation from reading up on the net hmmm

Also when i drove the short journey to the garage today the car was terrible it was shaking so much, it was not pulling at all i just kept it between 30-40mph max it was a huge difference to how it drove when i bought it 2 weeks ago and i only done 400 miles :(
