    Right just doing mine;

    With air con injection quantity is around 4.9 - 5.2

    Without aircon (with judder)

    Any thing from 0.5 - 2.5 and stutters from 840revs to 790revs.

    What is the cause though - can't believe fuelling is wrong in the ECU, it must be a faulty component or wiring...

    Mine doesn't judder so I'll stick it on VCDS tomorrow and compare the readings with the same hot and cold; aircon and no aircon.

    Just to add to the judder issue - mine judders weather hot or cold, this morning got to the end of my road and it was all over the place!
    Yesterday it happened when I got home - car was reasonably hot...

    cars usually use more fuel when its cold i think the messuring blocks are ok?

    Just checked mine - engine warm

    Aircon on - 3.3 to 3.6

    Aircon off - 2.7 to 3.3

    Engine revs 840rpm no change in revs

    hi yes min is 3.0 so at a guess your just ok i have spoke to a mapper today about turning fueling up and is getting back to me.

    mine some times drops to 1.7

    Be interesting to see if you guys can come up with a solution. I have a 05 2.0 tdi and mine judders from time to time, sometimes not at all and sometimes pretty bad. I dont know the inner workings of a car or its engine so im looking to you guys! lol.

    i think it would be a good idea to ask any body with vcds to do this 1.. from start when cold..
    and 2 when up to temp

    I will do it if you think it's worth it !

    As the reading fluctuates quite dramatically even though the revs don't change, what do you recommend I use for the reading ?

    Is it the lowest reading during fluctuation or the highest ? I have already given the range with the hot engine - is the range at cold sufficient ?

    i have changed injectors, wiring loom, both fuel pumps, both temp sensors, turbo, clutch , flywheel, gearbox,egr valve, throttle body, removed and cleaned manifold, egr cooler, timing is bang on, crank sensor, starter motor, exhaust and downpipe, both drive shafts.

    i think thats it lol and still have a judder when warm have turned tickover up slightly which helps.

    3.0 is min so be good to see what peoples got

    I checked from cold and there was virtually no difference.

    consider the valve timing on the exhaust cam check mvb's torque figure not by using the timing tools as its not unknown for the cambelt to be set up correctly but when you adjust the tension you pull on the exhaust cam pulley and mvb 4 if I remember will show the correct value, drain the fuel from the filter housing and poor it into a glass and check for soot.If there is soot/oil present if its soot then remove the injectors and inspect the cylinder head seats very carefully if pitted post photos
    injector readings in mvbs will always vary but a true test is to check fuel pressure at the tandem pump as well as delivery rate

    other options when running issue occurs increase or decrease pre fuel pressure and reduce egr flow to see if this balances the combustion more smoothly

    so valve timing, fuel pressure, egr flow plus check air pressure and quantity readings if possible and if one cylinder deviates in mvb for injectors then there may be some mechanical issue but after saying all this egr bounce can cause this symptom but with the correct tools you can delete egr function allowing more clean air into the combustion

    I knew I was going to enjoy you being a new member, knowledge is a good thing on any forum for all, lmfao.

    I have a question, A3 sportback, 2.0 tdi, possible mechatronic having a hissy fit, but when started up 1st thing & go to pull away, you stick in drive, put foot on gas it falters/hangs at 8-900 rpm as in idle & takes a fair few seconds to come alive even if you floor it the revs dont pick up at all, sat at idle almost even if foot down on gas pedal, then all of sudden revs kicks in & all good usually for rest of day or until left sitting for a while again, now if I was to start car 1st thing from cold, then leave in park & give it a good blast on the pedal for a few seconds so revs are up, then stick into drive it would drive of normal revving fine no delays.

    Any ideas as I'm leading to mechatronic atm, but tried fuel filter, checked under bench pump is feeding fine to the filter, could try tandem & injectors, but why would it once revved few times then work perfectly, would the mechatronic affect the car in that way so much if on way out?

    firstly I would consider testing the oil for traces of glycol, if ok then run the adaptive road test I'm not 100% if vcds can do this as for my personal use I have vas pc as well as vcds and prefer vas for all diagnosis and vcds for long coding.I will have a quick look for tpi docs if you have the year and engine code avaliable

    05 bkd mate, yes the infamous bkd arrghhhhh.

    You think the glycol is from the coolant, porous head, cause doesnt seem to be losing any at all.

    Have had a few times DIS flashing of the dsg gears etc which is of course mechatronic faulty, but hasnt done it for a while, calibrated dsg with vcds, it does hesitate when pulling away from junctions tbh, but not sure this is a sympton of the 1st start problem.

    Urrmm whats the adaptive road test check?

    Adjust the idle speed to 830 rpm.
    - Via vehicle self-diagnosis select the engine control unit 01.
    - Select diagnosis function 16 access authorisation
    - Enter code 12233.
    - Select diagnosis function 10 adjustment.
    - Select channel 06.
    - Set the value to 830.
    - Confirm and save input.
    will swap laptops to find data for adaptive road test, this resets the clutch bite values etc but also checks the pre mapped values of the mechatronics whilst driving and resets them to factory values.If they do not reset then its a sign the mechatronics is faulty but just increasing the base idle may improve the drive take up

    If you have access to fuel testing equipment with inline valve then you can reduce or increase pre pressure before the tandem pump and by clamping the return then you will also increase the pressure in the cylinder head in theory.Worth a shot as with all problems sometimes it a case of using your head and not overlooking basic principles of the engine, it needs correct timing, fuel pressure and air .My gut feeling tells me there is to much egr flow when warm and stationary or exhaust cam angle is out, you can tweek the exhaust cam because you do not have dpf filter .If you had a dpf then it will affect the combustion temperature which dpf needs for regeneration

    i have vcds m8
    my timing was out but had it setup correct by Dan at TRD also set my injectors up.
    I now have the power i should have but still slight judder when warm

    getting a map soon so egr will be switched of so may fix it ???

    also i notice that injector 1 goes got of tolerance so i replaced and is just the same.

    my guess is lack of fuel but why is the question ???

    The following deals with replacement of the mechatronics unit - that is, the valve body and control unit:

    YZNote:
    The new mechatronics unit is supplied complete with flashed software and a parameter set matching the vehicle. The adaption values for clutch calibration are in their default settings (predefined value).

    After replacing the mechatronics unit a complete basic calibration of the gearbox is necessary, so a basic setting should be carried out.

    Position sensors / synchronous body position:
    The position sensor calibration is begun by selecting channel 61. Once the end positions have been calibrated (pay attention to readout!), the next calibration follows.
    Selecting channel 60 initiates the next calibration - of the synchronous body positions (synchronous points). Only when these two calibrations (channels 61 and 60) have been successfully completed is the basic calibration classified as passed.

    Clutch adaption: (clutch safety function, main pressure)
    Software version < 0800: Clutch setting with selection of channel 62. The setting is made just low enough so that no torque is transmitted.
    Software version >= 0800: A clutch adaption at standstill is not necessary here, though rapid adaption needs to be initiated by selecting channel 67 (sets the adaption values to predefined values).

    As generally nothing is known of the history of the new mechatronics unit, the values of the clutch safety function are reset by selecting channel 68.

    Also, the values for automatic main pressure adaption should be reset to their default values (predefined values). This is done by selecting channel 65.

    The adaption itself is carried out later automatically during driving.

    Fitting info:
    The fitting of steering wheel paddles is checked and stored by the gearbox control unit. If a new control unit is fitted, it is necessary to select channel 63in order to reset this fitting information to "not recognised". This initiates the procedure for recognition of the steering wheel paddles, and a corresponding entry is made permanently in the fitting information. The same principle applies to detection of the ESP and cruise control variants fitted in the vehicle. This information is reset by selecting channel 69.

    Fault memory:
    At the very end of the test procedure, if passed successfully, the fault memory should be erased. If failed, its contents should be saved.

    Defined adaption test drive:
    Recommendation for a test drive and further checks after replacing the mechatronics and successfully performing basic setting.
    Preconditions : Gearbox temperature > 30C < 100 C
    JDrive manually in tiptronic off standstill up to in den 6th gear. Drive repeatedly in each of 3rd, 4th ,5th and 6th gears for at least 2 minutes under constant load.
    J Engine speed window for all gears 1500 - 3000 rpm.
    J Perform 1 sharp braking followed by full-throttle acceleration (to check oil return)
    J Manoeuvring with assessment of creepage and starting-off
    J Check for leaks
    If the test drive cannot be undertaken in the way recommended or for the period recommended, the fast adaptations still outstanding are undertaken automatically and unnoticeably in the subsequent driving cycles.

    Summary of actions
    1. Channel 61 - Calibrate gearbox tolerances (Engaged calibration)
    2. Channel 60 - Calibrate gearbox tolerances with reference to the position of the gear selector (measurement of synchronising point)

    3a) Software version < 0800 Channel 62- Calibrate clutch adaptation whilst stationary
    3b) Software version >= 0800 Channel 67- The values for the clutch adaption are reset.

    4) Channel 68 - Reset values for clutch safety function
    5. Channel 65 - Reset values for automatic main pressure adaption to defaults

    7. Channel 69 - Reset "ESP and CCS" fitting info to "not recognised"
    8. Interrogate fault memory and erase if test passed
    9. Defined test drive

    I'm aware the vw golf with bkd had a software update fix and injector replacement depending on the ecu software version but audi never had this option.
    I would be very interested to find out if the egr off solution fixes this or fuel injection quantity adjustment by remap
    Seen the pm will respond in abit

    As for the lack of fuel and other possible cause

    The cylinder heads crack and either leak coolant or fuel inside the fuel chambers within the head which would drop the pressure to the injector also the pitting around the injector seats causes blow pass and again pressure drop so clamp the return hose when the engine start running lumpy and see if it runs smoother

    had the probelm for 2 years.

    Doesn't need to loose coolant to be cracked as the fuel chambers can crack and lose pressure but if you clamp the fuel return line briefly when the fault occurs this may highlight the issue.Just another option

    also have a very very tiny leak from some where have to top up once a year .

    i get a little water mark on the alloy intercooler pipe on the drivers side which contects to the rubber intercooler pipe.

    any ideas ?
