I have always been to a main dealer in the past but as my car is now over 3 years old I have been thinking of using an independent specialist. Awesome GTI have been recommended and are local to me.

I tried to book my 2.0TDI A3 in for its next variable service (about 68k) but they advised against variable servicing, especially when they reach a similar milage. I have been advised to go for a full normal service and move to 10k intervals. Surprised Audi haven't recommended the same so they could charge more frequently...

Has anyone else heard of this? I am currently getting about 17k per variable service so moving to 10k intervals is almost twice as frequent. I had a few of the usual problems (Turbo etc) early on which were fixed under warranty but otherwise fine. Yearly milage is around 14k.

Is it worth switching or should I stick with the AVS?

Go for an annual oil service without a doubt. everything else can be left for 2 years if it suits you better. do not run your oil for more than a year full stop.

I would go along with that statement too. I switched mine and give it a full service once a year, with a fuel filter every other year, I use TPS for genuine parts.
