Advice - Weitec Hicon GT Coilover Kits (50mm or 55mm diameter struts??)

Hi, been thinking lowering my A3 on H&R 50mm springs only but now I've decided on Weitec Hicon GT Coilovers. The only thing is I need to know correct strut diameter to purchase?? I have a 55 Reg A3 2.0 FSI Sport 150hp (FWD). Is it true only the 1.4/1.6 with 50mm & 2.0 above are 55mm struts?

Also are there any A3 2.0 FSI Sport owners running Weitec Hicon GT Coilovers? Part numbers & pictures would be appreciated.

Regarding the strut sizes, from what I have read on previous threads & from asking other forum members what you say above is correct.

I'm looking into coils too atm

TimG, I suppose the kits we would buy could be the same as in strut diameter. The only other dilemma I have is what front/rear axle weights to order. I would check my vehicle handbook for this info but I've misplaced it. I notice on dpmperformance.co.uk website there are 3 choices on axle weights:

1. Front: 1035kg
2. Front: 1036-1105kg
3. Front: 1106-1170kg

Rear axle weights 1005kg across the range are the same!

Does anyone know the front axle weight for a 55 Reg A3 2.0 FSI Sport (FWD)?

I havnt got a petrol but ,Get a tape measure out .turn the front wheels and measure the bottom of the strut .its the fastest way to find out .Also I have just fitted Hot tuning cheap coils and there better than the stock suspension less than £200 and well please with them .

Thank Steve L, for your advice. However not sure about budget coillies. I've had bad experience once with budget coillies on a 3 Series BMW. One of the front legs collasped under 12 months! Weitec Hicon GT Collies seem a popular & reliable choice with A3 owners.

Google the spec sheet? These cheapo coils have three year warantee also ;-)

My axle weights are on a plate under the bonnet on my 2.0TDi I can only assume all Audi's have this?

1. Front: 1035kg | Rear: 1005kg (Audi A3 (8P) inc. Sportback FWD 1.4T Si, 1.6, 2.0FSi)
2. Front: 1036-1105kg | Rear: 1005kg (Audi A3 (8P) inc. Sportback FWD 1.8T FSi, 1.9TDi, 2.0T FSi)
3. Front: 1106-1170kg | Rear: 1005kg (Audi A3 (8P) inc. Sportback FWD 2.0TDi)
4. Front: 1036-1105kg | Rear: 1005-1160kg (Audi A3 (8P) inc. Sportback Quattro 2.0T FSi)
5. Front: 1006-1170kg | Rear: 1005-1160kg (Audi A3 (8P) inc. Sportback Quattro 2.0TDi, 3.2 V6)
6. Front: 1035-1130kg | Rear: 1005-1185kg (Audi S3 (8P) inc. Sportback Quattro 2.0T FSi)
