I only bought my car from a garage 10 days ago. It had been serviced by a VW/Audi specialist the day before and I have just had a 'replace brake pads' warning come up on my DIS.

Audi say that they are 90% worn front and back.

I have a 30 day warranty which I know wont cover pads, but should the garage be responsible for these at all since they have just sold it to me and they got it serviced the day before I picked it up.

Any advice before I ring them would be much appreciated.

I would definitely ask them to pay for new pads. Any mechanic worth their salt would've seen the pads were almost totally worn during the service and informed the dealer of such.
The dealer probably just thought they'd get away with shifting the car and the buyer not noticing for a few months and then getting them replaced themselves.

If the pads needed replacing after a good few weeks or months then ok, but 10 days after purchase.... nah, if they've any decency then they should foot the bill of new brakes.

well i run a garage/dealership of my dads and the first thing i would come back at you is "warranty covers wear and tear items only" which is fair play.... but as we try to build up customer care and relations we would replace them for the customer so depending on the person attitude who you bought them off .... just ask them but be nice in doing it aswell :) costs nothing to be nice and the rewards can be good =]

GO back to them & explain this is rather unfair, they should of replaced these for you fox or at least labour free.

I emailed them and to be fair they've been quite good. They have re-imbursed me the money for a new set of EBC Green Stuff pads front and rear. I have had to pay for the labour though.

Pads came to £105 all in so not too bad.
