RNS-E GPS Receiver with phone preparation?

    Hello
I have a mate who just bought a 8P3 2010, and he wants to retrofit a RNS-E in his car, he has phone preparation in the car, so i has a "shark-antenna" on the roof for GSM signals i guess, is there a way to use it as GPS Receiver? How much work is it to get the roof lining off?

    Cheers

Check his antenna part number, as I suspect its already gps enabled & may just need an extension cable running down to the front, no need to drop the lining, just few trims to remove & a long piece of rigid coat hanger wire or pipe to feed down to the front, done number of times.

never got around to checking this, thought id remove the rear light to see through to the antenna like on the 8L..then realised that there is a layer of card in the way :/

Is this extension cable something easily attainable from the dealer?

thanks for the helpful answers guys. Now another question.
Can we use the same bluetooth unit if we retrofit a RNS-E?
