so here it is the latest piece of the puzzle, rns-e 193 G.

big thanks to lala30 who helped to fit it, rewire aux in and code all thing.
without him i guess it would take much longer to make it work.
had a little issue with dvd drive as i tried to put mp3 cd to see if it works and it got stuck, but managed to make it work without dismantling the unit and now it loads, plays and ejects discs perfectly.
love the sd cards and the music from them.

    Time for some update..
Left the car at Revo to fit new Loba clutch, new cam follower and rs4 fpr valve, and to check all hoses and pipes..also there will be new map update, even maybe a newer version than the current v12....

Can't wait to get it back !!

Picked up the car few hours ago. Clutch is really lovely. From the cabin can't feel and hear any difference, no additional noise, vibrations. Did only 100km and i hope it will be like that. Pedal feel is a bit harder but i'll get used to that. Shifting is super fast, and precise.

Also got map update with same BTF settings as before, but the thing is now scary fast. I really got the chills after a drive. And i think that rs4 fpr is really a must at stage 2+. It feels the same as it did when i got fuel pump and went from stage 2 to stage 2+. Really a massive difference.

    Love this scary thing

So is there a Revo update from 12 and did you also get the linear throttle or non-linear?

Interested to know as I'm currently on V12 stage 2+ with the linear throttle

So am I but I am trying to get into my tuner for a re-tune to non linear throttle.

Good call. Interesting to hear that you think there is a performance gain by adding the RS4 FPR.
Although this is a common mod, my Revo tuner told me it is not much use with the 2+ tune and really only advantageous with a bigger turbo.

Either way, I'm hoping by switching to the non-linear map, my car will feel crazy fast also, I don't like or rate the linear map at all.

poli84, yes you're probably right, updated map sure did make a difference, but i think that there is a bennefit from fpr too, as it holds higer pressure than oem one.
anyway, can't test it more or even run in the clutch due to heavy snow.

today i felt creative, so decided to install air feed from fog light grill to the air filter.
got 60mm flexible tube, few zip ties and started playing...
tube in place with grille off

    grille on

    behind the filter

    filter in place

    finished job

don't know if it will make any difference but it felt good to get hands dirty :D

also the clutch feels great after 600km's, no chater or vibrations :D

ok time for a little update,

yesterday i got 42 draft designs bushings kit and i went out with the tool box and tried to fit 42dd managed to fit them without taking the battery out.
front-back went in easy, it was really simple job. side-to-side one needed trimming (about 2mm) since i have forge short shift kit, so i could use forge side-to-side pin and locking nut. after fitting i had issue with neutral, if i pulled from 1st it would stay between 1st and 2nd gear instead 3rd and 4th, same was with 5th and 6th gear.
the issue was that i didn't realign gear linkage after fitting.
Luke was helpfull and gave me instructions how to do it.

so today went out played with the gear linkage few times adjusting it, testing, readjusting and more testing, and after few try's it's set up perfect. feels really special.
i've noticed a little play on the side shifter mount on the gear box, 42dd instructions say that it should move for the thickness of a credit card (about 1mm), mine has much more, so i need to find the way to sort that piece too. first thing i thought about was putting a washer, to reduce movement. what do you think about that?

Also if anyone thinks about fitting those bushings with forge short shift kit, it works. there will be needed trimming on the side bushing, because forge nut for the side one is a bit shorter.
there's no need to drill anything so it's actually just old bushings out, new in, and realignement.

also bought sexy piece of aluminum sheet 50x25x0.2cm to make custom air feed/heat shield. already made one from different material (heat reflecting) for testing purposes and it worked well.
heat shield is almost done, it needs a bit of trimming, bending and probably painting. so i guess tommorow i'll continue having fun with it.

    thanks for reading.

here's update about diy intake air feed/heat shield.

yesterday i found this nice aluminum sheet 50x25x0.2 cm.

then i started shaping it into a heat shield looking like this

and after painting it it looks like this

    what do you think?
it cost me total less than 10€ and 4 hours to make it without proper tools.

also i have sheet of heat reflecting material that reflects 90% of heat, it's 1cm thick and it's foam inside and heat reflecting material on the outside works really well (i've made testing heat shield out of that it kept everything cool near the filter even after a good blast). do you think it would be overkill adding that to the inner side of the heat shield?

    thanks :D
well i've got mine when there wasn't much ic options. my tuner told me it works great, and i got it. but i still think that one set of pipes and one bigger ic is better than two sets of pipes and two ic's. don't get me wrong it helps a lot with the cooling but i feel like there is a difference/hit beyond 3,500rpms when rolling it could be due to mapping (on old map) but now after adding few other things and new fine tuned map it feels better. somehow i think that with single bigger ic that hit would be smoother and less noticeable (but again i could be wrong, this is just my opinion, based on results and what i know about fluid flow).

    Regards.

yeah heat shield was one day diy job. came out perfect. didn't test the car properly with it but must be good as it's getting air now from the front of the car. last time i fitted air duct from fog light grille i measured 9g/s more than without it. so i guess this could add a bit too. more g's more power :D

it wasn't me driving the car. i was at home hungover watching f1 grand prix Monaco. car was at revo stand, and my friend took the car, but short shifter came out loose and the gears went from short to long and back every gear change so it was difficult to do good shifts. car time was 13.7. with easy launch. but i think it can do better.

About that two air hoses that you installed!
Do you not affraid that water will come to the air filter when bad weather?

not at all. it would need to be a lake to get the water up, and on the top side is a gap of about 10 cm's between the duct and filter.
before itg i had forge cai with filter behind fog light, so this is totally safe :D

I kind of agree with this....

My previous intake was an original Forge design, with the intake right down in the grill by the foglight on the left hand side.
If anywhere was going to be a hoover for water, this would be it,and it never did cause problems but always made me feel very cautious on really wet days.

I think any system where there is sufficient room for water to escape should be OK.

yes, we had the same forge intake. although it looked good, i switched to itg as it looks meaner, it's safer from water, and it has a bit better performance.

now need some brakes...and a lottery win...

    Hi Si,

What does it do by changing the gear bushes?

wondering as i something get stuck in first gear and have been informed its due to the bolt on top of the gear linkage being lose.

    Cheers

    hi,
it redues the play of the gear shift making it solid, so the gear shifts are precise. oem bushings are soft and there's a movement in them so when driving hard there is play in them (also engine movement) making shiftings less precise.
don't know if it would help with your gearbox getting stuck in first gear. that could be related to release bearing.

Cool have you got link to the bushes? Also did you change them yourself? Is it easy to do?

    Thanks

hey i think awsome gti sells them. i've ordered them from zztuning from Romania, as that was the cheapest option for me (shipping quote from other shops was 40 pounds!!!!).
also take a look on the 42 draft designs web which one is correct part for your car.
yes i did the job myself. since i have short shift kit i didn't have to drill anything, but i had to trim 2-3mm's of the side ones to use them with forge short shift kit as they were a bit wider.
there's a really good tutorial how to change them and what else to do on youtube on mkVI gti.

Loving the thread mate, my next mod is the heat shield, do you remember the measurements , as knowing me I will totally mess it up haha,

Also you would advise one bigger intercooler rather than 2?
