Hi,

Hopefully someone will be able to help, when i got my a3 there was an aftermarket cd player in there it turned on and off with the ignition, i changed this for an audi concert single din cd player but it will not turn on when the car turns on, VCDS does not see the radio either. It turns on and works perfectly when i manually turn it on and also turns off after an hour as if the engine is not switched on.

Any help much apreciated.

the live wires have been changed over to make the aftermarket radio work

The radio is designed to turn off after an hour (ish) when the engine isn't running in order to ensure it doesn't flatten the battery.

Many cars do this (Peugeot) for example.

If you want it on again you have to switch the ignition on first, but this time it won't stay on as long.

It's all determined by recognising a minimum battery voltage.

Kite - so if i switch the wires over the radio should be recognised again,

Mike - The radio does that but it doesnt actually turn on when i turn the ignition on hopefully kite answer will sort it.

Thanks

Was there an adapter fitted to the car loom to make the aftermarket cd work?
