thought you guys might like this, this is David Kynaston who drives in the rally up in my neck of the woods in Brecon Beacons. this is my favourite sound on all the rally cars that take place.
nothing beats the sound of this A3 when your actually there mmmmmmm

it is a 4.2 V8 DTM(not sure what from but i spoke to david before and thats what he says is under there) rally tuned engine that sounds the nuts.

duely noted lads, someone must have been pulling my plonker at the time then, although when you hear this thing for real about 3 feet away it does sound V8ish, this thing is a purerally car with 2 seats and an engine and thats it, unfortunately i havent seen the engine so cant confirm. i shall try and find out what it is though as it is a monster thats for sure
 
it sounds more like a m3 strait 6 to me mate or something like that ive been on youtube listening to a few different engine (yes im bored)
 
lol same here fran, ****** sky is knackered so no tv for all weekend till the buggers come out on monday.

just emaild david to see whether he can confirm what engine he is using, it does sound very much like a V8 when your next to it but i know what you mean by straight 6. im confused so hopefully i can get a reply from david so i can put my mind to rest. tis a lovely beast though and damn it can go
 
thats a bit of a **** aint it grant bad times bud , yeah my bosses ferrari sounds like a evo over the phone so my mate says but its a hell of a sound when your standing right behind it when he is reving it mmmm power lol
 
My guess is someone said its an S4 engine meaning 3.0 V6 not 4.2 V8
 
Not sure but he took that corner very well, compared to Scoobie driver anyway :ninja:
 
Ive sat in that scooby, rally specialist called RASP round the corner from me had it in for a while, its amazing
 
I flung it in google and it said a 2.5 v6. But I didn't know vag did a 2.5 v6.

Odd one.
 
Someone else says it's a 3.2 v6 that has been destroyed to a 3l
 
No A4/A6 "V" engine will fit an A3 unless they've totally reworked the drive train, subframes, 4WD system and floorplan as the engines mount totally the wrong way. A3 is transverse and the A4 upwards are longitudinal.
 
anything is possible remember the group b cars from the 80's they were all crazy engined rally cars and ive seen a v8 in a mini before so anything is possible in my eyes

I think it's more likely to be the 2.4 v6 engine from an old 80 or coupe.

According to K Rallysport's website, this car was to be running again in 2014/5
