Engine oil specs.

Engine oil lights just come on, am normally ontop of things but been busy.

basically whats the correct oil to put in a 1.9tdi on around 33k? ive got some but dout ill be putting it in unless its correct.

any help is very much appreciative

maybe list this as a sticky for other engines and differant oils or just general info thread.

Really depends what is in there now ? don't put mineral oil in with synthetic and vise versa. Either way a 0/40 diesel type oil like Mobil 1 will be best. If in doubt change the lot and go fully synthetic Mobil 1 0/40

Thanks paddy, i have no idea whats in there now but it will be what ever audi stick in them as the car has full service history. not sure if you would know whats in. so basically do not minx!

Castrol edge fully synthetic oil 5w30 is ideal for your engine and Castrol is the best oil in the market imo but i think audi puts semi synthetic oil but its better to go to audi and ask them

Yeap I concur 5w30 is the ticket iirc on these engines, 2.0 tdi is for sure, its called Edge or SLX 3 (iirc) only difference is one is retail name other is dealer name.

Got some castrol 1litre for about £11 I think was cheaper as mates run a car place. Thanks for all the info my dad nearly had me putting in some daft "diesel engine oil" which was 15w40 lol told him NO!
