i have a 54 plate a3 tdi sport i need some new tyers but garage i get tyers from said they can get me some 225 50 17 cheaper than 225 45 17 .... brand new not part worn .... do u thiunk these would be ok
 
I thought it would be the other way round, 225/45/r17 are well common
 
no they'll change the rolling radius = speedo will be out.

225/45R17 are what Audi suggest, and they do it for a reason lol

my 2nd option it to buy new 18" alloys with tyres which will do the same thing
 
yeah but you can code the car to accomodate that. when you're buying 18s that makes sense, when you're trying to save a tiny amount by getting cheap tyres you're gonna end up paying more than if you just got the right size tyres in the first place.
 
you can get 215 50 17, should be similar radius as 224 45 17.
