Apologies if this has been posted before.

Would like to know the following:~

~ Are the rear windows slightly tinted as standard?
~ What shade would be the best to go for without going too dark or looking over the top?
~ approx cost for a professional job?
~ Any compnaies in or around South Wales that can be recommmended?

Any advice offered is appreciated.

Thanks

Audi windows have a light tint.

Personally I would avoid tinting.. too unreliable... but replacing rear windows may be an option.

I was always advised to avoid buying cars in South Wales or Bridgwater so can't recommend anyone.sorry...

they are tinted from factory if you dont want to dark id go prob 35% all rears

as for a company down there one of the s wales lads will be along soon to tell you

yes they have a light tint as standard i agree but why would it be "unreliable" getting them tinted and replacing the windows will cost a small fortune , oh and can i ask why you have been advised to avoid south wales to buy a car ive never had a problem ive been living here all my life

I had my Sportback windows tinted (B pillar back) with 35% film. Cost £170 and came with a 10 yr warranty.
I'm very happy with the job and it's lasted a year with no visable defects. I didn't want it too dark and 35% is just about right for me, wouldn't want it any darker. Couldn't recommend anwhere in South Wales though, the guy I used is based in the Midlands.
Having watched & helped him install it, as long as the prep work is done correctly, the end result is very good.

Cheers all!! looks like the 35% is what im looking for (cheers for the pics, your car looks lovely)

Some strange replies too lol ??

Is there any particular make tinting film to go for or avoid?

Will track down a specialist installer near Cardiff and get it sorted soon.

Looks good, I was thinking of having this done but my sportback is lava grey so might go a bit lighter. Anyone know a good tinter @ Stafford?

Booked mine in for two weeks time.

Anybody got any pics of tints lighter that 35%?

Just want to be sure before I take the plunge.

Who have you used mate ?Looks great !

Always used 1 company to do 5 plus cars now for tints all way round, not ever had 1 issue in years now, no bubbling, never comes loose, infact it looks exactly part of the glass, always tinted the rear window & backs with darker to fronts for security reasons, not quite limo black as looks to gangster, but it also helps to keep the bright sunlight down in summer & the heat is reflected aswell, so keeps inside cooler.

This is the people I use, totally professional service : Old School Windscreens

Cheers peops!

Think I will go with the more perminant option of the film rather than the shades.

Anybody know what % shade the Light Smoke and Smoke shade is?

@Steve L - I used a company called Smashgard (think they're based in Northants), bloke called Darren. The job took a while, but that was because he redid one window as he was unhappy with the finish (I couldn't see what was wrong!).

@Pazaz - I think light smoke is 35%.

What about tinting the rear glass, doors & 1/4 lights, but not the rear screen, would that look stupid?

35% is the dogs ******! I've had mine done at that %, not too dark nor too light.
