Door sensor....interior light....locking problem

Good evening troops, Last couple days the good old a3 has produced a problem......driving along and the lcd display will say my driver door is open hence the interior light then comes on. This happens all the damn time and the only way to stop it it to switch the interior light off. Doesnt get any better when u get out the car and try and lock it, obviously the car thinks the door is open and refuses to lock.......any help advice would be much appreciated ??

It sounds like the micro switch in the door lock has gone. You will need to strip it out & inspect it.

This link will help to remove panel to get to the lock.

Chances are microswitch in door lock is ******** (technical term ! )

Get a scan done which will show error in door module if that's the problem.

Spray some wd40 into the door lock & open close it a few hundred times to see if it releases it properly, if not then as per Khufu said, out she comes, there are iirc 3 microswitches inside the lock, probably some grit/dirt in there needs moving.
