My turbo blew afew weeks ago at the turn of the new year....
So firstly I sent my turbo to Turbodynamics down south, who then gave me the bad news my turbine housing was cracked and the turbo no use.
So then I found a seemingly good deal, a low mileage 18k k03 off a mk5 gti on eBay, paid for that, waited waited.never recieved it. Totally shafted by the seller, recieved the refund thru Paypal over 2 weeks later (today).
Bought another turbo off a guy on here, decent chap, he never fitted it, was sold to him as working , also low miles. Sent this to TD again, apparently in worse state then my own turbo and also of no use!!!!!
So car off the road for weeks and zero progres made but hundreds of pounds down the pan...
Then I remember Turboactive who sold me a recon turbo for my old Bora, which is still going strong 40000 miles later.
So finally after another week I had this turbo fitted and got the back today, to a big dissappointment.
While been driven in the car by the mechanic, noticed there was pretty minimal boost, and severely lacking power in pump or stock mode. He was not convinced it was mapped right but it was running spot on before the turbo trouble, he doubted that is was faulty and said get it RR'd for proper boost log etc.
But then on further driven the car felt severely flat and only got worse later as i drove the car around myself.
Initially with the mechanic it felt flat but some boost. Now there is virtually no boost at all, can hear a faint turbo spool but pretty much feels not much better then limp mode.
Then on my way home from GFs house tonight I smelt burning oil...!!!
Parked the car leaving it idle, and low and behold white smoke..WTF! Looks like I've been sent another ****** duff turbo. This turbo comes with 1 year warranty but does NOT cover labour costs, which I was not told before, and of course it has to be removed and sent to England for Turboactive to assess.....The car is in almost exact same state as it was 3 weeks ago and Im f*ckin raging.
So even if they find this turbo faulty, which even a total imbecile individual could manage to see, Im still gonna be liable for more big labour costs and more inconvience of no car.
After having my Sachs clutch fitted the wrong way around in November this is the 'cherry' on top!!!
