Out of interest Just did a valuation on my car on 'Webuyanycar.com' cos I'm sat here bored!

No wonder the owners are all millionaires!

Indeed. Stupid service for stupid people.

Indeed. Stupid service for stupid people.

don't agree entirely. some people want it simple, don't have time to faff around with advertising etc. (your time is money remember) and then having to risk being conned etc. for them the "price" in terms of reduced value is worth it.

it provides a service that some people need. i wouldn't use it personally, but that doesn't mean that nobody can get any use out of it

More like good idea to make money when people finally realised they overspent for many years & need quick cash to pay there bills, stockbrokers are probably there main business with R8's, Porsche's etc.

You can be lucky with the online valuation sites (although it's usually the other way around). I think that their valuations can depend on several unknown such as them periodically wanting to build market share, season, demand for a very specific model and freak auction values.

I had a car to sell in autumn 2007 and one of these sites (can't remember which) offered £2k / 20% more than any trade-in and about the same as I'd have got in a private sale. Needless to say, I bit their arm off.

Yeah definitely agree on the price fluctuation point. I recall looking at the value of mine out of interest just after I bought it - they were offering £400 more than what I paid!! The car was in very goon nic, but I don't know whether they would have pointed to certain things to try and drive the price down once they inspected it.

What ever they quote, are they actually going to stick with it once they see the car...?

Yes. From the reports I have heard, they quite often give a favourable price on the phone/web, and then the inspector drives the price down when they come to view it. They then get quite aggressive or guilt inducing if you decline. A bit like the gold buyers. Don't forget they are a business, not a service, so driven by profits only.

My advice : Steer clear!!!

Cheers,

where do you think carcraft get their cars from :) check out your local delivery centre and it WILL be a carcrap showroom haha...... always been a rip off that place, remember a young lass coming to me when i was in sales telling me she worked there, iasked 'why are you not getting a car from there' here response was 'i know where they come from'

carcraft also tell you they are webuyanycar as when you ask for a valuation of your car they tell you to go to webuyanycar and that is the price they will give, they are also making ridicloius profits this way. my mate was offered £2500 for his mercedes and carcraft where selling the same car for £5500.

they offered me £3800 for my S3 which bottom booked at £4200.....i got £6200 for it, not the point though - they are clearly making a killing for the same reason these payday loan people are.....suppose it meets the needs of some - as disgruntled as we are
