Hi
There people just got myself a 2004 Audi A3 2.0 Tdi DSG S Line and was wondering whats the pros & cons of increasing the bhp from 140bhp to 170bhp, would I get better mpg and which product including costs would you recommend.
Thanks

most people will say revo... im not most people and id say have a chat with evolve, they have mapped my S3 and a couple of other peoples on here and have shown very strong results and improved drivability as well as improved mpg (unless you drive it hard)... cost, i have no idea as im not sure what he charges for a TDI map

Get your turbo and general check around your car before mapping it, not wanting to put you off and your goal of 170bhp is not really adventurous but better to be safe than sorry. More than a few ' my turbo blew x months after a remap' thread on here.

I have a chippedUK ST3 unit which will allow u to switch between economy map, performance map and original 140bhp map it's not too bad but to be honest when I increase power again :eyebrows: I'd be going somewhere that would map it according to what I want and test car on rollers while I was present getting setting etc right. Custom mapping I believe it's refereed to as.

Good luck on whatever you go for.

Just wondered what the difference is between the 140 and 170BHP TDI's, just the upgraded Turbo that the 170 has?

If so would the 170 turbo be a straight swap?

I know this question has probably been asked a load of times guys, and I'll apologise now ahead

The turbo isn't a straight swap, can be done, but cheaper to get hybrid turbo. Injectors are also different

Thanks for the replies I'm gona have to think about the remap, will I get more mpg if I up it to 170bhp & also Got a few probs car is overheating and the fans are blowing cold air, steering wheel sign light is on and steering is stiff, engine management light is on and there is a loss of power when driving any ideas?
Not having much luck at moment!

VCDS scan for most of that lot.

Overheating and fan blowing cold sounds like your water pump to me, get that looked at sharpish otherwise you will cause a lot of damage.

Hi,

as Gti said get down to a specialist to have that lot diagnosed and mate FORGET about remaps until it's been done. As I said above, you must have all these things checked out before you map it or the increased output will put stress onto your engine, turbo & box etc. Good luck with the diagnosis mate.
