Does anyone know what MPG I can expect form a 1.6 petrol (non-FSi,2006)?

Parkers guide says 39MPG, i'm guessing this is very optimistic/fake average.

It all comes down to how your driving. I can go a round trip of 16 miles to supermarket down a bypass and get 38pmg out of my 2.0 FSI easily if taking it easy. Longer journeys, ive had 42 easily. If Im heavier on the pedal, low 30s.

I know someone who has a 1.6 and it apparently uses alot of fuel! On a short run, you will get around 28, but long runs about 35? If your giving it some then low 20's!

i got a A3 1.6 and admittedly should empty the boot xD and i average about 400miles in a 55litre tank which i cant figure out how much that is but last time i checked i got about 36MPG but thats mostly sensible driving like khufu says :D i recon i could get that down to 20MPG if i just drove flat out all the time xD
