Hi guys, i know this has been covered many times before and have searched to find a cure for this but still no joy. Story goes the head cracked on my mates MK5 2.0 TDI so far i have changed the cylinder head/bolts/gaskets/DMF/Clutch/starter/coolant temp sensor/x2 second hand injectors and seals on all injectors/battery/glow plugs/crank speed sensor.. Still the car is running a little lumpy on cold start but that clears up and runs fine till warm then idle will drop/run very lumpy and cut out, when trying to restart the car will maybe start after 45seconds but again will cut out unless the accelerator is held down a little. Even while accelerator is held steady the revs will go high/low very slightly. Any ideas as to what else i could possibly try?? Remap is a no go as friend will not do it.

Did you change the injector wiring loom as well which is known to cause most of the problems you have described ?

Typical problems very well documented on here - just do a search

Iv not yet changed that, but if that was to be at fault would it not cause this fault all the time rather than just warm? I have also checked through the search option but didnt find much else..

Il try this next then, other faults iv been told to look out for is the in tank fuel pump and the high pressure fuel pump on the right side of the block, would these possibly cause this problem too?

Hopefully someone else may be able to help with your supplementary questions.

I'm afraid I've run out of info. !

Tried to change the injector loom with a new genuine item but still same probs. Any other checks or places to look at?? This is seriouosly starting to PI$$ me off!!!!:gun2:

The only thing left that I have experienced is the Crankshaft oil seal. The seal expands if it has ever been hot and distorts ever so slightly. The seal contains magnetic points that the crank sensor picks up on and give a false reading to the ECU when it warms up and giving the exact symptoms you are describing. The best way to diagnose it is to graph the crank sensor output (I used VAS) and you can see an anomalous output flat spot. The seal bolts in and comes complete with the aluminium plate. Silly idea as they spin the actually seal with the crank as the pickup! Hope this is of help to you!

I was about to suggest the fuel pump, there's intank & the tandem one on right side of engine, I would try these next mate as if done coolant senders, starter, injectors & loom, cant be much else left.

ECU maybe an issue, try reflashing this aswell or swapping out, as I said not allot left to change surely.

Changed the tandem pump on the right side of the engine aswell. Going to have it VAGCOM'd on friday so see what this brings.

Did you not vagcom 1st?

Ah hold on, did you change the fuel filter yet?

Not VAGCOM'd yet however did take it to my local vw/audi specialist and they plugged the car in and assured me replacing x2 injectors would cure the prob but it didnt so not going to go back there.. Also tried to change the fuel filter for genuine vw.

Ok who or where does testing/refurb on these injectors?? Part no 03G 130 073B. Long shot but place that doesnt charge arm/leg..

Long shot but did the problem above get sorted? I have the same issue with mine and I’ve rebuilt the engine, replaced nearly everything and can’t get to the bottom of it?

Anyone solve this problem? I have the same fault and it driving me nuts
