I imagine it would be a big (read expensive) job. But can it be done? Anyone had it done?

I've not done it before, just seen it mentioned on some forums. They say the roof linning needs dropping and holes need drilling in the roof.

I'm looking for some more info for you now.

It can be done, Audi do a retrofit kit too with a choice of either chrome or black roof rails..

I think audi quote 3hrs to fit. As Dean says there's a retrofit kit , here' a link to this guy's profile:

View Profile: boggym - Audi-Sport.net

he had the PDF and fitting instructions and most important templates for where the holes go and rails should sit or I think you might end up with wonky rails if doing it by yourself. :keule: I think they would all be included in the retrofit kit, but Audi want circa £450 for the rails iirc and ebay.de (your friend & mine!) Have them for between €125-€200 dependent on condition. Search for audi a3 Dachreling on ebay.de ;)

I'm trying to do this also. I have the rails, but can't find the drill template. Did you have any luck finding the templates?

Templates come with the retro roof rail kit when ordered from Audi..
