Can Steering ECU & Slip Rings be Mixed?

Hi all...

By this matrix: Steering Wheel Control Module Versions - Ross-Tech Wiki it shows that certain ECUs match certain Sliprings...

Can my ECU (1K0 953-549 A) be matched with a Type 2 slipring (1K0-959-653-C or 1K0-959-653-D)?

I currently have slipring 1K0-959-653.

Well as we discussed via PM Mike Im not sure if my cruise retrofit will work with what I have so if it doesnt work then it looks like I'll have to replace the Slipring as well as the ECU, which is gonna be £££ lol.

I've just fitted my cruise this morning with my ECU 1K0 953-549 A and slip ring 1K0-959-653 but I'm yet to program it as I'm waiting for my brothers laptop.. so we'll see if it works or not later tonight... I'm pretty sure it wont though.

Sorry mate - senior moment (again!) forgot we have discussed your dilemma before !

Have found a slip ring on ebay if you need one, but post again with your result so far, for the benefit of others.

Got my cruise installed and coded but no luck getting it to work, looks like a new ECU and Slipring is needed!

Have you coded the engine ecu as well ?

Engine(01) has been coded to 11463 and Steering Wheel(16), 2nd last bit changed from 1 (computer without cc) to 4 (computer with cc)

Scrap that, just got it all working

Had to scan the car which threw up a few errors in the Steering Wheel Module (16), cleared all errors and double checked the coding and wola.

To confirm:

ECU Module 1K0 953-549 A and slip ring 1K0-959-653 DO accept the Cruise Control Retrofit.
