hi there has anyone got prices for stage 1 ,,stage 2,,stage 3,,stage 4 remap etc,, ,, for s3 2007 reg...
also thinking of using awesome gti ,,,any comments,,cheers....

Don't know prices but I've heard Revo are good! Have a look at their website.

Depends on software, hardware, and who does the work.
Rough order of cost is:

Stage 1 = £400-£600
Stage 2 = add £1500 ish for exhaust and intake and software.
Stage 2+ = add £400 ish for fuel pump and software.
Stage 3 = Big turbo conversion, best to speak to the guys who have done these builds, S3Alex has a good build WIP thread on VAGOC.

Budget another 1K ish once you get to Stage 2 as you will need a clutch, maybe even as early as Stage 1.

Good luck
Paul

Hi....
PaulAr has given you a reasonable set of prices there, but you're going to need a lot of money to make the step between Stg2+ and Stg3,and another similar wad of cash to get to Stg4.

I would suggest being very sure about what you want to do eventually, and how much you want to spend, and if you do decide to go to Stg2+ or beyond, you need to factor in suspension, brakes, and diff controller as well,or you'll have something that goes well enough in a straight line, but can't stop or corner.

Suspension will set you back another £1200-1400,brakes at least £1500,and diff controller another £700.

A big turbo kit.....well,the BSH kit is the nicest, but will set you back around £7k fitted, when you factor in a bit of modification to the LHD kit,and import duty etc.
The ATP kit has been developed for UK use by AMD,and GT3Turbo,using my car as the basis for it,and we now have something that fits reliably and works.

You should still budget on at least £5k.
Software.....Revo for sure....their products for 450bhp and above are excellent, and driveable.

The software is the easiest, and cheapest part of it,to be honest...it's the hardware and labour that really costs....do it carefully,do it properly and in stages, and save yourself a lot of wasted time and money....I would strongly recommend going to people who have done this before, and for me,AMD are the ones.

High-performance vehicle tuning, ECU remaps, Exhausts and Servicing

Forgot to add......Stage4 will require new pistons, rods and bolts, and along the way from Stg2+ you will also need a new intercooler, and I'd also advise an RS4 fuel pressure regulator, and you will need a set of RS4 injectors at around £600.

Allow £600 plus fitting for the intercooler, and a couple of thousand for the pistons, rods and bolts, plus fitting.

If you plan on going above Stg2+,you will need either a Forge Twintake,or if you fancy a neater solution,an ITG intake.

Put another way...Stg1 is pretty cheap,2 is not cheap,2+ is getting costly, and 3 is very expensive, when you add up all of the extras such as brakes, injectors, turbo kit etc.

N8's comment about the clutch is also correct.....at Stg2 or above the OEM clutch is waiting to fail.

Why not pop over to VAGOC and have a look at the cars with all of those mods done.

would love a go in your car al! so jealous....:anbet:

Very kind.

Goes well, and runs reliably, which is what I wanted from this.

I don't neccessarily want the top of the BHP figures, but I do want something quick, that can be used every day,and thanks to AMD,Revo and GT3Turbo,I've got that.

When you've got that much power Alex, figures are iirelevant tbh, its all about how it drives on the road, like my cousin's GT28 TT, just fantastic  Big Turbo delivery is sooooo addictive man

Quite so....I've had couple of cars with heavily modified engines previously, and done sensibly, you can get the power, and reliability, plus have the car drive as well as it did before, without excess lag or top-end only power.

The GT3071 begins to produce boost from only a few hundred rpm more than the stock item, and has massively better performance when you get to 4000rpm,but the overall behaviour of the engine is as good as,if not better than before,as it doesn't need to be revved to get that power.

It's going to surprise a few people to know that it's quieter than it was before.

The K04 would whistle and squeal, plus there was a fair amount of induction noise through Forge's original CAI.

This makes a few noises through the ITG system, but you get very little in the way of chattering or squealing,as the current turbo really isn't being wrung to death to get the airflow.
The exhaust is more agressive when the throttle is wide open as you'd expect, but still not exactly loud(and I have had one on the GpN Escort that was enough to make your ears bleed),and really the only giveaway is the occasional bang from the exhaust on the over-run.

Sorry guys.

would still be nice to see the dials when toeing it!!

regardless of noise it must sh1t on so many cars.... e90 m3 is a good test... i beat e46's ADL but e90's are an issue for me atm..

Far too busy holding onto the wheel when it's going fast thanks!

At Stg2+ it was as quick as an M3 over an ordinary road, but it has so much more power and midrange now.

haha am looking forward to seeing you car tomorrow Alex, and to see what it produces on the RR!

I've just had Revo stage 1 done today, and there's no problems with it at all, the folks i dealt with in Lincoln were top class, decent and friendly and able to answer all my questions.

Revo have a special offer on before the 31st December, £100 off re-mapping reducing my costs from £450 to £350. But after the new year, with the VAT increase i think prices with Revo will be looking at around £500 for stage 1. Get it done!

Alex - bring on AMD RR day tomorrow! Its going to be great to see all the hard work you have done and also to get to drive your car................:yum:

hi alex have you got your build thread on here would love to see it ,,as on vagoc i need 10 posts or more to view it,, many thanks for the lovely info alex...

I couldn't get any pics up on the site,so I've kept the entire thread over at VAGOC,and it's very easy to clock up 10 posts.

Com on over and have a look and mine,JonnyC's and S3Dan's.

Thanks everyone...the AMD RR day was great fun,and good to see you all.

What did the RR say your car is pushing??

Over 440bhp and 420lbs...as RR would say, power is adequate.

Sounds fun!!! How much it set u back in total with all mods to get that power? Must be mid to low 4s 0-60?!?!

In the interests of my clutch and wallet,I tend not to do drag starts, but when it's moving,it's pretty quick.

If you planned on doing this sort of thing properly, budget for brakes, suspension, and diff controller as well as the turbo kit and other parts, and you'd be looking at the thick end of £8k.

If you already have those parts, then the kit and fitting would be about £5k inc mapping.

but when it's moving,it's pretty quick.

haha your being quite modest Alex, its a bit more then pretty quick! what really surprises you it looks totally standard (on the outside) even the brake callipers are black so you dont notice them unless you have a close look. and when Alex puts his foot down, off it goes, beautifully modded car Alex!

I went out in Alex's car yesterday at AMD, and as he says, once its going.........FM does it go!! Awesome car, very inspiring.

Just for guidance, I got 377 on stage 2 Revo (not 2+). Was very happy with that for the limited amount that it cost me so far. And I am honestly not tempted to go down the same route as Alex.

Honestly.......:crying:

I'm too busy listening to the voice that said "what do you want to spend that much for??" which seems to have managed to gain access to my bank account and a spare debit card.........

Just remember...2 bank accounts,or 3 if there's a joint account, and have the bits delivered direct to AMD....then the car goes in for an extended "service"....

Hee hee! That's my trick! :readit:

"Faulty" exhaust, so why not buy a S/Steel one for longevity! Clutch gone, so why not uprate it to avoid another pricey failure! That plug in GIAC remap thingy with the lights & buttons on it - that's a security lock out device love! :whistle2:

Any creative excuses for the noise of the upcoming CAI would be warmly welcomed...

i waited till mine had been serviced, changed it out and then said it was the filter 'bedding in' but then its a case of hoping they dont look under the bonnet and notice the ver obvious change

The prospect of that bothered me a bit,as did the thought of asking them not to flash the ECU during a service.

As it happened, they weren't in the least bit interested in the suspension, brakes or underbonnet mods and the car came back after it's service with no problems
