MAF Sensor, Coil Pack or A.N.Other??

Car has developed another feature which I thought was due to running a rather aggressive REVO setup (B8, T7, F9)...

Under full boost and stress (such as full throttle going up hill) the car was stuttering in 3rd and 4th over 4k. This is now getting worse happening on the flat too now....

Other forum posts seem to point to either MAF Sensor or Coil Pack....i know its not the DV as am running an upgraded Forge one.

Am aware of the coil pack prices and being able to do it yourself. Anyone know the price for the MAF sensor these days? (8P AXX engine - 2.0TFSI).

Any other ideas as to what it might be??

All of the causes you've listed are likely cuprits, and I've just been introduced to another one myself this morning.....

My own car has run perfectly since the GT3071 was fitted, and yesterday developed a monumental misfire under load or above 3000rpm,and after a hellish drive to AMD today, they've found the plastic housing where the electricals connect to the pump itself has a nice big crack across it,and this is now the 4th instance of this they've seen.

On balance though,it's most likely to be the plugs, coilpacks or MAF.

    Overly aggressive Revo settings???

Try dialling them back and see if the issue persists, and then if it does, you will need to do some data logging.

This is a question that gets asked a lot across the forums recently, and there are some regular culprits as Alex has mentioned above.

Funnily enough Alex, I had to replace the VVT sensor in October as he electrical connector on that had snapped and bent the internal pins to the point of fracture. Wonder if its a result of heat fatigue, or engine vibration?

Hi Warren....don't know, but as I said,AMD have now seen a few of the same failures.

I think it's the result of a plastic moulding contained within a metal casing, and the inevitable differences in expansion and contraction.

    Revo wise...

Ran B6, T6, F6 for 2 years with no problems.

Changed it to 8, 7, 9 for a while and when the problem developed I tested and it was no better with a 8,6,9, but was with a 7,7,9. Ran that for a few weeks, prob came back, then ran on 6,6,9 and problem again came back after a few weeks.

Recently ran on std Revo map of 6,2,9 for unleaded and prob is there worse. Currently runnin 99RON on 6,2,9, and its not too bad but is there under load.

On std map....well the car is flat as hell!! LOL.

....Also noticed a few other people on her with similar issues - Are the coil packs / MAF sensors more likely to fail in cold weather??

Plug change is 60k isn't it? Car is on 56k now (Longlife, next service is 8k) so could be a plug.... But it's not a misfire really, its not severe enough on the judder - guess that points more to the MAF then.....

    Any mileage in disconnecting MAF???

Try putting T back to 6. Have you checked the correction factors since changing as it could be the engine pulling back.

Your running an aggressive revo set up on a set of std plugs 50k+ miles old...? I am amazed it even runs ! what do they look like ? and whats the gap ? Try closing the gap a bit and see if ther misfire moves up the rev range.

6, 2, 9 isn't an aggressive setting is it? That is the std REVO performance setting for 95/98RON.

I spoke with REVO when I got the Select Plus and they said that for an STG1 car the most aggressive to run would be an 8, 6, 9. They always say run a 9 on Fuel as its only a requested value....

T setting doesn't seem to change / affect the problem its only the Boost setting which does. That would indicate that boost is being scaled back, but from what Revo told me if it is scaled back it IS SCALED back - not fluttered...

Car is going to have the error codes read 2m so hopefully they will be showing something useful.

I didnt realise you had changed it. All the same audi long life service intervals are crap. Get a set of iridium plugs anyway.

Get yourself some new spark plugs, my car is stage 2+ and was 11k miles when the spark plugs gave me a hesitation when accelerating. I did not believe the spark plugs would solve the problem because it was so bad.

OK...so Error Code was EVAP Emission control system Incorrect flow..

Mechanic muttered something about N75 and/or Purge Cannister Valve.....

Code has been cleared and fault appears to have disappeared for the time being.....

Codes only appear after three similar faults.
