Handbrake light problem

Hi guys just a quick question I noticed last nite the my light on the dash board doesn't come on anymore when the hand brake is on, it come on when the ignition is on then goes off again with the rest and also the dis doesn't recognise if it's on slightly when you set off, has anyone any ideas and also is it possible that something has been turned off in vagcom
