Hi some of you may now I have been suffering major problems with my new Sachs uprated clutch system.
Clutch slip has been present form day one of the NEW clutch, in STANDARD power, with an extremely high biting point. The clutch would slip just when climbing a hill in 3rd or 4th with HALF throttle, as easily as that.
Clearly a problem, so had the transmission removed and new set up totally stripped down to check for fluid leaks on the drive plate or other defects.
Score marks were found on the LUK DMF and clutch disc from where they slipped, but other then that no defects were found when inspected by an ex VW technician who specialises in gearboxes.
These were sanded down with emery clotc and a fitted along with a brand new master cylinder, ( the concentric kit had already been changed the first time and was not faulty).
Now clutch slip was even WORSE. FML. No car for nearly 2 weeks and hundreds of pounds end up with an almost useless car .
Clearly as all parts have been checked and double checked with no faults I have been supplied with the incorrect clutch. As the bite point is about 3 inches higher up the pedal, and there is next to no clamping force I think the thickness of this Sachs clutch is thinner then the OEM.
In a thread by a member on her from Milan he had a similar problem which also caused much confusion. There was a fitment issue between the clutch and his flywheel, as such the clutch plate was not being pressed fully against the flywheel, which is like my problem.
Have spoke many times with Ed & APS in Northamptonshire, who has been very good, but does not have a new clutch to send me ( this will come from Sachs) and is unsure if they will pay for the labour for car to be stripped down ( a THIRD TIME!!) so a new clutch can be fitted.
Since my new DMF is already damaged, and now that clutch has been sanded down a bit slip is even worse in TOWN driving! The DMF will certainly need replacing again and I am not happy to replace this again at my own cost, and I do not want to risk having further fitment issues with a new OEM flywheel.
Does anyone know if they are likely to upgrade me to SMF under warranty or reduced cost, and pay for the labour? My mechanic already had to to strip the car a second time and get a third party inspection, which he has taken a hit for.
Please help! PS part numbers 999787 999502 for the Sachs clutch- correct for my car with OEM LUK DMF.
