Hi some of you may now I have been suffering major problems with my new Sachs uprated clutch system.

Clutch slip has been present form day one of the NEW clutch, in STANDARD power, with an extremely high biting point. The clutch would slip just when climbing a hill in 3rd or 4th with HALF throttle, as easily as that.

Clearly a problem, so had the transmission removed and new set up totally stripped down to check for fluid leaks on the drive plate or other defects.

Score marks were found on the LUK DMF and clutch disc from where they slipped, but other then that no defects were found when inspected by an ex VW technician who specialises in gearboxes.
These were sanded down with emery clotc and a fitted along with a brand new master cylinder, ( the concentric kit had already been changed the first time and was not faulty).

Now clutch slip was even WORSE. FML. No car for nearly 2 weeks and hundreds of pounds end up with an almost useless car:(:( .

Clearly as all parts have been checked and double checked with no faults I have been supplied with the incorrect clutch. As the bite point is about 3 inches higher up the pedal, and there is next to no clamping force I think the thickness of this Sachs clutch is thinner then the OEM.

In a thread by a member on her from Milan he had a similar problem which also caused much confusion. There was a fitment issue between the clutch and his flywheel, as such the clutch plate was not being pressed fully against the flywheel, which is like my problem.

Have spoke many times with Ed & APS in Northamptonshire, who has been very good, but does not have a new clutch to send me ( this will come from Sachs) and is unsure if they will pay for the labour for car to be stripped down ( a THIRD TIME!!) so a new clutch can be fitted.

Since my new DMF is already damaged, and now that clutch has been sanded down a bit slip is even worse in TOWN driving! The DMF will certainly need replacing again and I am not happy to replace this again at my own cost, and I do not want to risk having further fitment issues with a new OEM flywheel.
Does anyone know if they are likely to upgrade me to SMF under warranty or reduced cost, and pay for the labour? My mechanic already had to to strip the car a second time and get a third party inspection, which he has taken a hit for.
Please help! PS part numbers 999787 999502 for the Sachs clutch- correct for my car with OEM LUK DMF.

Woah! Still having problems! Its been a while since u first posted your priblems. Sounds like a wrong clutch or dodgy fitting. Do you have the part number? Il compare it against mine as they use the same parts anyway

Hi - I just highlighted the part numbers at the bottom of the first post
Yes its been AGES ! Tried bedding it in more, to no avail. SO had it stripped again as mentioned. The clutch as been fitted properly and aligned with a laser alignment tool. Pretty sure it must be the wrong or a dodgy part, now my DMF is knackered again I want them to give me their SMF system. Hope they do!

My uprated sachs clutch disc is 881864 999502. Clutch cover is 883082 999788. Full system with SMF is 883089000034. Hope this helps. The part number you have for the disc alone is a combination different disc and cover. Im looking at the sachs catalogue and your part number of 999787 is a LUK reinforced cover and 999502 is a SACHS disc. I recon you cant mix these two up, as mine are both sachs. So just to clarify:
Sach disc and cover is 881864 999502 and 883082 999788
LUK disc and cover is 883082 999787 and 881864 999529.

Go back to the people who you got it from and get the correct matching SACHS parts :)

Hi, the part 999787 and 999502 are part numbers for the Sachs Drive plate and Pressure plate, NOT the flywheel.
Those are the two part numbers for the Sachs kit that goes WITH the LUK flywheel, they've been checked as correct by myself and Sachs and APS.

Basically looks like Im gnna have to drive down to Northamptonshire from Glasgow ( which will be a mission with this clutch), and leave the car with them to deal with it directly, for a couple of weeks. Total hassle wish I'd never gone for a Sachs. :(

Am telling you mate you do not have both sachs parts. Ive not mentioned a flywheel. Re-read my post compare which are the sachs numbers and what are the LUK numbers. If anyone else can shed some light on their part number to help our fellow member :) il print screen the catalogue and post if you dont believe me

Bro thanks for the help but those part nos are for sachs pressure plate n flywheel. Both are uprated sachs parts, and this one in particular is meant for use with an LUK flywheel.
I have bitten the bullet and am driving from glasgow to northamponshire on saturday mornin to get APS to strip the clutch themselves!
Hope they dont have to send it to Germany and can diagnose it themselves.
Ps both parts of my clutch came in Sachs boxes and are Sachs SRE parts not LUK. I have spke with sachs who have confirmed they are correct for my car.
