    What's my car worth?

    Hey guys

As we all now know, the Audi is soon to be gone was just wanting to see what sort of figures people would suggest for selling her at

So, very soon I will have a 3dr 2007 (07) Audi A3 2.0TDI (170) S-Line DSG for sale, with around 36k on the clock. Has a full Audi service history and is in impeccable order!

The car is finished in lava grey and the paintwork is in top condition, with the front and rear bumpers having a fresh coat of paint in the next week or so. Car will also come with these added extras over the standard S-Line spec:

    Rear parking sensors
    Full front S3 bumper conversion
    Bi-xenon headlights
    Headlight washer jets
    Auto levelling system for headlights
    Auto wipers
    Auto headlights
    Coming home/leaving home lights
    S3 side skirts
    Cruise control

As well as all the usual S-Line stuff:

    Full leather S-Line interior
    MFSW
    Black roof lining
18" S-Line alloy wheels all with good tyres
    Dual zone climate control

Any ideas? Bare in mind i'm looking for a quick sale as i need monies for the house deposit

    Cheers

When I was looking for a 5 door 2.0T DSG I reckoned on subtracting one pound for every mile and 100 pounds for every month old from a notional new price of 22k. The 3 door seems a bit more popular then the Sportback and the diesel not much cheaper so, using that benchmark I'd expect to see it at an Audi dealer for about 14,200. Add a hundred quid for every month newer than Feb 07. Looking at Audi used, that seems to be about right.

I think you'd expect a few extras, so you have Xenons but no cruise or sat nav.

Are you in a rush to sell chief? If not then use the higher price as a guide and see what interest you get...? It's always nice to be a "i'm in no rush" type seller, especially these days with so many free places to advertise your car.

EDIT: I just read your original post, which says you are in a rush. Shame really, as that will mean a lower figure. Look at equiv Audi prices and reckon on about 2k less for your motor, so about 14k I reckon.

Kind of ties in too with the figure you got above.

FWIW When I sold my last car I started at top dollar as it had really low miles and good spec for a MK5 Gti. Top dollar was 14K then.

Then I just refreshed my PH ad every week or 2 and dropped it 200 at a time until it eventrually sold for 12800.
Had very little interest until it dropped under 13K then I could have sold it 3 times in the same week.

I still achieved 2-3K more than selling to the trade or p/x.

The secret is just pitching it at the right level to get some interest without giving it away, and keep reducing the price to reflect depreciation and keep the price attractive enough until its sold. Not easy.

    Good luck.
    Paul

Bearing in mind that was typical monthly depreciation for that car at the time.
    Now:
-MK2 Golf Gti 16V/VR6, Oak Green, Shrick, Intake, Decat, Kish Retrim, Lenso BSX..
-BMW 335d Xdrive, Estoril Blue, fully loaded.

    Before:
S3 (8P), Ibis, DSG, Milltek, SHARK

    BMW 320d M Sport
S3 (8P), Sprint, REVO, H&R Springs, BBS CHs,

    Golf MK5 GTi 20TFSI - REVO Stage1, Red.
Golf MK5 GTi 20TFSI - Std, Shadow Blue
    Civic Type `R`
Golf MK4 GTi 18T - 200bhp, MTM ECU, Forge DV
    Golf MK3 VR6 - Cat Back
    Corrado VR6 - JAMEX
Corrado G60 - JAMEX, BRM Charger rebuild
    etc....

Ye that's the method i would usually use, but i need to pitch it at a price which is reasonable for me but will get people ringing me straight away

Can't afford to have the car sitting there for more than a few weeks, so need to get it right from the start

Any ideas of a guide price?

And also for what it's worth Parkers say this...

Assumes 30k miles and you'd need to add a bit extra for non-standard items like full leather and parking sensors.

    No sweat mate.

I wouldn't advise WBAC either, it was just for comparison.

I reckon the Parkers value of 13,035, add about 1kish for the leather, and other options you've got, and a bit for good measure and being knocked down etc.

    Try Glass's guide :

    Vauxhall - Glass's Consumer Values

This is 'apparently' a more accurate guide than somewhere like Parker's

Audi dealerships use Cap to value trade in's so here's the cap valuation for your vehicle:

    Audi A3 Diesel Hatchback 2.0 TDi 170 S-Line 3dr S-Tronic 2007 07 @ 36k

    Trade in - 12000
    Suggested Retail Price - 13795

This does not take into account any options/mods just a stock vehicle. Its always worth a quick look on Autotrader to get a flavour of market conditions as well.

I would say 14k. Weigh up the sentiment of all the
mods you have done - some may approve, others discouraged. I would say a dealer is reluctant to take a heavily modded car irrespective of it being OEM mods

Good luck with the sale and house purchase.

I think 14k is a reasonable asking price, as I was looking for an S-Line TDi back in July, and they're really like gold-dust, especially with 36k on the clock too.

I finally had to give in to a 70k'er, but paid 12.5 for it. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

the main putoff for me is the green, im sorry but i like mine to look as oem as possible, that being said ive not the sufficent funds to do the mod considering id be going s3 fronts on the rear etc, id be looking to retro a new master cylinder and new hoses to eliminate any brake spongeyness, this all being said if i had the spare funds (not tied up waiting for buckets) i would buy them right away so someone save me from having debt collectors at my door and buy them please

The calipers can be refurbed, and there will be pedal travel I'm afraid, why would you need to replace the master cyclinder...

i assumed that if i repliced it with a larger one i could presurise the system more and therefore reduce travel, im not after brakes for the performance, just looks like tts buckets
