Hi,

I hope some of you folk with brains and knowledge can help on this one. Car is an 2006 2.0 TDi 140 Sportback

1. My reversing sensor is constantly blaring when in reverse and think it needs the wiring looking at. But can I work out were the B*****r is or how to get from the boot area through the trim etc. Any help on locating and getting to it would be so so helpful.:tocktock:

2. I had the car remapped about 6 months ago and am pleased with the performance improvment generally however I have developed a turbo whine which may or may not be getting louder! Can someone give me deffinative guide as to what to look for and should I be very worried!:sorry:

I have also read a little about hybrid turbos. Should i need to have the turbo replaced can you guys tell me what is the fundamental difference as to lazy to read though the 100 or so differing opinions on them! Also any indications of costs here would be great.

Many thanks.

Phil..

Turbo whine can be a byproduct of the increased boost & it can be a sign of wear, start worrying when it goes into limp mode imho, if you're that worried then get it taken of & checked out by someone like turbodynamics, but for me I'd keep an eye on the performance & maybe get it scanned to make sure no anomolies with boost readings.

The pdc module is hidden behind a trim that covers the whole right rear quarter of the boot, remove this amongst others & this will show you a bracket that houses the module & end of sensor loom, but again a scan may tell you its just a single sensor thats out & thus replace this 1st, it may even be its come unplugged from a sensor & a reach up from underneath maybe help you resolve, I'm afraid its a dirty hands job.

If you need someone to resolve for you, then PM me as I do this kind of work.

Basically the stock turbo & hybrid turbo would be 1 of the same mostly, however the hybrid has upgraded internal parts & has been hollowed out for a bigger chamber & supports more boost when a corresponding map has been applied.

Morning MHN,

Many thanks for your comprehsive reply. You have helped me make some sense of the problem. I am going to book the car in to a VAG specialist to hook up to the Diag. machine and see what it says about the turbo condition then make a decision from there. The Reversing sensor problem started after a particularly hard jolt in car so a wire coming adrift is likely I just could not see how to even access the gubbins in boot as no screws, bolts, caps of any description. Deffinately have to invest in a haynes manual if keeping the car. Will have a grope around trhe sensors to see if anything as it souldn't be but as you know access is restricted by the depth of the undersheild of the bumper!

Thanks again.

Phil...

It probably wont say anything about the turbo condition as only a visual inspection would show any play etc, but it can show boost levels & thus possibly show any issues in the intake system which includes the turbo amongst other parts.

There are a number of members on this forum that have vagcom to do a diag scan for you, click the vcds members list in my sig & they would at least be able to see what the sensor issues possibly points to & maybe even do a boost log.
