Climate control swap....

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could let me know if this is possible to do. I recently bought an 08 Audi A3 sportback (since my last one was written off the end of July) but the only thing Im not happy with is the climate control.
Can i swap from this, which is in at the moment...

To this? Which Im looking at buying to replace it with?

Not a chance in hell mate, need the whole system fitted, its dash out job & through to engine bay etc, sell the car buy a different one with.

Also me & Phil shocked in the same thread, thats history in the making, ytf do VAG still fit that crap.

I dont want to sell her, only bought her a few weeks ago. Tha car was made on November 11th 2008 acording to the log book... what a ******, its the only part I dont like! So it can be done then? just at a price?

Ive been thinking about this a little more, does anyone know all the parts needed for this conversion? I know its a lot of work but as i sai I love the car, just hate this one thing...

mate i kind of feel for you, i bought that facelift climate for my 06 before finding out it didn't work until the late 07 cars! that was pretty disappointing for me.

Can only imagine your frustration with wanting to get this sorted, not sure were your based in relation to Nigel but id say he would be your best bet if its dash out as i certainly wouldn't be confident enough to take it on myself! instead i would rather have someone like Nigel who knows what their doing sort it for me

How much is the earrt going to cost? I had an 07 sportback with climate control and as it was written off in July I thought Id get another A3 sportback just a little newer, the main differences were the climate controls in the old one, never realised how much easier they are to use and how much better looking they are than the crap I have in this car... If it can be done Id like to do it, but if its going to be one hell of a job then maybe i wont, Ill just put up with it, but then there will always be that one part of the car I hate...

Yeah I still want it done but I think Id need to know a rough total cost before I had it done...Theres a garage not to far from me called "Euro performance" that specialises in Audi, VW etc...maybe ill go there tomorrow and see if they can give me a quote. I can post it on here then so others who feel the same way I do about this can have an idea of the cost...

TBH, you'd need a Donor car for all the bits & preferably do it yourself. To buy all bits new & get somebody else to do it you could be over £1000 at a guess.

i really am still astounded that there exists models without climate, even your run of the mill ford has it nowadays, what makes it worse is they bothered to revise the manual climate unit instead of doing away with it

as for the cahnge entirely possible and nige is your man, i pity nige cause its an absolute slag of a job tbh ive had to strip that far back before to change a top door hinge, suffice to say i will not do it again, lost one bolt that i eventually after 3 hours of looking found jammed in behind the accelerator pedal

They maybe a specialist in engine work but the more intricate things like these systems, they would need experience in wiring, removal, updating etc & I find this is where specialists fall on there *****, so beware & I can tell you now this job would cost a few K believe me, as removal alone would take a fair number of hours.
