2.0T Oil?

Hi,

I own a 2006 A3 Sportback 2.0T. Its been serviced in october last year and Castrol SLX LongLife 3 Oil used. I was given a 1 litre top up bottle for between services and it is now finished.

The engine didn't used to use too much oil but its consumption of oil has started to rise lately, hence I have ran out.

I can't find SLX LongLife 3 Oil and I assume this has been replaced by Castrol Edge 5W30?

Would it be safe enough to top up the engine with Castrol Edge 5W30 when it has had Castrol SLX LongLife 3 used at its last service?

Any help on this is of course appreciated.

Emailed opieoils and had a reply that mixing the Castrol SLX LongLife 3 with Castrol Edge 5W30 would be fine and the engine would suffer no problems.

Oil level is fine for now, but going to order a 4 Litre bottle from opie oils just so I have some handy for the car.
