Guys/Gals,

Car has just been in for a service and my mechanic has let me know that the last owner has managed to strip some of the threads on the sump plug hole!!

He has managed to refit a new plug this time (tight and no leaks) but advised that it may be worth replacing in the future.

The car is a 2003 A3 3.2.

Do all A3's from this time have the same sump? Am I able to get any sump (for an A3) from a breakers or are they model/trim specific?

Does anyone know the price of a new sump from Audi?

Cheers!

R

you really do need to be an animal to strip the threads on the sump, did he airgun the plug back in?

the sump will not be shared across the A3 engine rang, it will be for the 3.2 only as the block design varies.

the part number for your sump is 022 103 603 L and is about £100.

Awesome! Thanks for your reply!

I was expecting the sump to be more expensive than that! I take it that that is direct from Audi?

I don't have a clue how the previous owner would have done the servicing but fully trust my mechanic to do it properly to the correct torque etc...
