Hi everyone,

I have a bit of a problem with my 2004 Audi A3 1600. The thermostat reads 0 and the radiator fans blow very loud and fast. From outside the car it sounds like a plane!

To get around the problem I have to drive the car for 10 minutes or until I know it must have warmed up. I turn the car off, then back on again. The car then registers its hot - the thermostat registers at 90 degrees and the fans stop. (If I dont do this turn off and then back on again the fans will continue to blow, and the thermostat continues to read 0)

If I do this process before its fully warmed up - the thermostat doesnt rise at all and the fans keep blowing.

Any ideas what might be wrong with my car? (It may be totally unrelated but the ESP warning light is permantly showing too (apart from on warm days).

Thanks

Needs a diagnostic scan.

Sounds like there could be an issue with the Engine Temp sensor to me.

Thanks Paul,

Sounds like I'll have to bite the bullet and go and pay the price at my local Audi dealer.

Check out the VCDS section of the forum as there may be someone close to you that could scan it for a few Beer Tokens.

A few bottles of beer work well with me :w00t:
