Hello,

Newbie here.

I bought this car brand new in April '07. Since then, it has had two new prop. shafts. It seems to have been "out of balance", causing vibration. Second time, I recognised the noise and got the car in, checked and fault confirmed just (a few days only) before the warranty expired. Phew! Avoided £1400 bill.

Is this a known problem with the Quattro on this model?

I think I need to get rid of this car - but have I been unlucky, and got a 'bad' one, and another one would be OK, or would another one do the same? Would not want to move away fom the A3 - I love this car, as I did its 1.8T petrol predecessor (in which I did 103,000+ miles in 8.5 years, from new).

Thanks for any information.

N.

never heard of any issues, but then again ive only heard of s3 and 2.0t quattro drivers locally, cant see it being any different if you really have been that unlucky maybe worth contacting audi and seeing about an inspection into how the fault keeps comming

yes there is a known issue with the propshaft. The vibration is caused by the damper were it mounts to the haldex seizing
