ORange brake symbol not in manual

Hi,

My audi S3 (2000 reg) just came up with a symbol that I cannot find in the manual. Its an orange priority 2 light - Looks like a brake light failure symbol, but without the bulb in the center with the cross, and the "pad" bits around the circle are dashed.

Any ideas???? I would guess it means pads are low or something? Do S3s do this sort of check?

I think you are right. Sounds to me like your pads are low.

I believe that most new cars with ABS do, I know on the Saxo VTS it has a sensor in the pad that once it becomes low enough that the wire touches the pad it warns you.

Its the front brake pad wear indicator. You've got a few months left on the pads, but you should get them done soon.

I thought all cars had that. Even my first car - an '83 MG Metro had wear indicators!

s3 pad sensors are only on the passenger fronts, so thats where to look.
