Either you have it or not, it can be got for circa 250

Hope this thread does not turn into a " I have not got them because they are sh&*, crap, chavy or some self righteous reason"

alloy all the way....risky due to their appealable nature with the scum.... but they are one of the more defining parts of the S3 IMO

Alloy. I really like them. And there are loads of other marques out there with cheap imitation silver/grey painted wing mirrors - Seats, Saabs, MGs, Alfas etc. Its nice to have the real thing.

With the exception of classic/vintage cars where half the car was chrome (!), was the S3 one of the first mass market cars to have chrome/alloy mirrors?

I didn't actively look for alloy, but do think it shows the fact that it is an S3 to other road users. Bit like the S4/RS4/S6/RS6 having them.

When I bought mine, every S3 I looked at had the alloy wing mirror, I genuinely thought it was a defining feature of the S3 and standard to all. Knowing it isn't doesn't change my opinion though, I think they look brilliant.

At first I thought the alloy mirrors made the car look a bit max power but I soon grew to love them. The only way I spot s3s over a3s is the mirrors

Colour coded (which I prefere) & the wider arches & s3 badges do enough to say it's an S3 not an A3

Mine came with colour coded items actually, as I didn't know much about S3's when I purchased mine, I just bought it cos it looked and went well in the test drive! I currently have InPro Chrome ones fitted, but I also have a set of genuine metal ones, but they seem heavy over the standard plastic items.

Same here, I have a Silver S3, so dont think its much point having alloy/chrome on mine, as they wouldnt really stand out, however, I am looking on getting them sprayed the same colour as my rims (gunmetal grey)

I see a pattern here, Silver S3's are more likely to have colour coded mirrors, boring sods.

Colour Coded.... I only think they suit: black, blue & red... My opinion though , they do make the s3 stand out a lot more, but when it's imola yellow, I don't have much problem with it standing out
