Hi all has anybody ever changed this on their car? If so i take it its a time consuming job? thanks

45 minutes, not a lot of work really, just a bit fiddly and it has to be precise

remember to use liquid gasket when putting it back together properly, otehrwise itll leak

Thanks all though im not doing it, but u was under the impression its an expensive job labour wise?

bump for anybody who has done this? is it really 45 mins work? thanks

it depends on what engine code you have

Hi mate i have an AMK S3, Basically my car had an EML light on got the code read by RAC then had a specialist look at it,

They said that i need a new CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER as my timing was checked it was spot on, the wiring was spot on, but the actutal ADJUSTER need replacing,

i have had no other symptoms, no funny idle etc the only thing is the car not performing as it should recently, but i thought this might be MAF but no other codes were logged, so its prob to do with this,as it has a fault,i think this is the variable vavle timing thing? They said it was strange as they usually just fail completely which mine has not?

Anyway car has not moved untill i get the problem fixed, but i nearly fainted when i got the quote lol,
so it will have to wait on the drive one more week i think,

I was just wondering labour time and parts involved as i dont really know alot about mechanics allthough i definately trust the guys going to do it etc, I ji just thought wow when i heard it lol, so surely there must be alot of labour iinvovled or the part must cost some?? thanks
