ive noticed today that I have a hole in my exhaust somewhere near the front. I tapped the accelerator and it splutters and makes a weird noise when for the first few minutes of driving then stops. Could this be the reason behind why my car seems less tourqey and using alot more fuel??
Thanks
Rob

You probably have the typical cracked exhaust manifold, once the mani expands it tends to self seal (For the want of a better phrase)

would that be whats making this weird spluttering noise when i accelerate and stop after about a min? If it is this would these cause the issues i said? and if it is this would it be expensive?
thanks

whhhaaaaaaaaat!, I get this too, that sucks. Worth taking it off and welding it up?

yeah its possible that the lambda is is getting more oxygen with a leaking exhaust, which will mess with mpg.
