Cat converter

hi guys i have broken all the stuff inside the cat converter and its making a terrible noise, i currently havent got enough cash to replace it until next week. is their a way to silence that noise cause it sounds like im driving a 1950's rover. someone said you can put a screw in it to stop it rattling. is their any over ways?
