Controls the cruise control disengage, as well as allowing the ECU to know when the clutch pedal has been depressed.

This helps the engine to rev match correctly for gear change, as it knows a) when the pedal is depressed and b) when the pedal is released.

If you have a faulty clutch switch, expect the engine to seem unhappy at gear change. Fault codes for the clutch switch will appear in the engine fault code controller, so you can have a look for issues there.

Bear in mind that S3s and A3s without cruise control also have clutch switches.
