Front suspension creaking

Hi
I have a creaking sound when turning the steering wheel. It is coming from the offside front suspension.
I've noticed that the strut sticks out higher on this side than the other when I look at it from under the bonnet. Is this normal? The car's recently had a new spring and wheel bearing on this side, could a part have been missed when it was put back together?

Possibly bad fitting, More than likely a knackered top mount + bearing though.
GSF do a bearing and topmount kit for around £10.
