Just out of interest to tose who run single mass flywheels, does your gearbox sound quiet on idle or does it have a slight chatter?

i dont have that yet but i dont think its worth it before you hit 300bhp +
correct me if im wrong

The reason i change is that i needed a new flywheel as there was to much play

Standard flywheel from Audi is over £400 and is over 10Kg

Single mass flywheel from TTV is £220 and is 3kg

No brainer really

This is something I am undecided on... there is no reason why a dual mass can't be used on an engine putting out over 300bhp, the RS4/RS6/S8 etc all have one its how it effects the way the engine runs....

My build is about making my car drivable and I am on the fence as to a single mass... I know the benefits of a lightened flywheel, I used to run one back in my Mk2 Escort days but not at the expense of changing the way my car feels to drive under normal conditions...

When my clutch needs changing I will have to make up my mind though as I don't fancy having to take the gearbox off too often :)

mine chatters slightly on idle if you have the AC on or if you blip the throttle from idle, the duel mass is one big damper and thought without it could cause backlash in the box,its no big,but i will rebuild the box when the clutch gives up.

As for performance gains, cant comment on that as i bought the car with the single mass on.

thanks for the replys tho.
