    replacement springs????

just had an mot only to find out that my rear springs have broken about three three inches from the bottom. has anyone else come across this problem?? it looks like its been like it for quite some time?? anyway the advice im looking for is!! i want to replace the springs and shocks for the varient 3 set up but not quite yet as ive allready spent nearly 2 grand on her this month so i think for the time being im just going to replace the springs. if i put lowered springs on will the car bounce about like mad or will it retain its stiffness due to the fairly ok standard set up. and can anyone recomend a reasonable set

Common as muck mate... using lowered springs on OEM dampers that in fairness are prob very tired by now can make the handling worse plus it could also make for a very crashy ride depending on how low you go...

Why variant 3? planning on tracking the car? An awful lot of adjustment to fiddle with and bugger up the handling if not... If using for the road then just get a set of Billy B8's and 25mm drop springs and be done... Save messing the handling and hitting sumps

The rear springs snapping is a common problem on the S3 and if you want a quick fix to get you through your MOT you could go for something like the Eibach with we could get to you for tomorrow.

As mentioned it's always best to get matched springs and shocks but if you just want them until you get coilovers then you should be fine.
