i was in the middle of changing thermostat and i slipped and broke the dipstick guide!! already ordered a new one, but what shall i do in the mean time, shall i just tape up the hole or something, as i need my car for work??

Had a broken one myself... for about 4 months! was patched up with gaffa tape. I had a spray of oil all over the underside of car but It will be ok :)

mine completely shatterd, so ive removed the whole thing and the dipstick and taped up the hole with insulation tape. Do you think this will be okay for a few days??

If you have taped up the hole then it will be fine! as long as no oil can get out.

cool ok, just wasnt sure how much pressure from the oil would be pushing against the tape? dont want it to come off, and oil to go everywhere!

I know its not the best thing in the world... but the oil pressure light will come on if it gets too low, as ive found out. even then it won't blow up!

I'd be looking at getting somethiing to wedge in the hole rather than tape....
