Thumbs up Get in there!!!! Council is paying for a alloy refurb

Just thought I would share my good news and surprise that the council does eventually pay out...

I kerbed my front left alloy due to a protruding kerb back in Feb and have been chasing the council ever since.

Finally got some good news over the phone today to confirm they have accepted liability and I can claim for the cost of repairs to my alloy and tyre. I argued that the kerb had not only scraped my expensive alloy wheel but had also taken a massive chunk out of the tyre sidewall which they could seen in the pics I had provided.

So it looks like the S4 reps will be getting a coat on anthracite paint hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers, did you take plenty of pictures and complete an accident report form?

The curb that caused the damage to my alloy still hasn't been fixed but the council sprayed some markings down the day after I reported it.

Good work! The more people that make the councils pay up, the more likely they are to start treating potholes/ dodgy kerbs with more urgency.

I get the feeling it's probably still a lot cheaper just to pay the odd claim than carry a mass exercise of checking and fixing them all.

You're less likely to get away with them paying if it was a pot hole mate, sadly. I've tried, and failed, twice.

Kerbs sticking out is another matter in their eyes.
